ABOUT MLMA
The Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association (MLMA) is a non-profit trade association representing lumber manufacturers in Mississippi and industry related businesses throughout our region. MLMA exists to promote, support, and develop our member businesses, their communities, and their people. The association provides advocacy, education, and networking opportunities to support the lumber manufacturing industry in our state.
JOB SUMMARY
The Membership and Marketing Coordinator for the Mississippi Lumber Manufacturers Association (MLMA) is responsible for assisting the MLMA Executive Director with the organization’s online presence, special events, and member support. This includes, but is not limited to: coordinating statewide membership communication and marketing efforts of the organization for target audiences (which include MLMA members, sponsors, government, media, partners, and the general public), assisting with convention and event planning for the organization and other duties as outlined by the Executive Director.
This position will work closely with members and partners to fulfill the association’s mission of promoting the lumber manufacturers in Mississippi. The Membership and Marketing Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director.
SHIFT
- Full-time, typically Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Some nights, weekends, and overnight travel may be required.
- Flexible work setting that may allow partial work from home schedule.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communication, integrated marketing communications or related field.
- Minimum two-years related experience in event services, public relations, and/or social media required.
- Graphic design and website development experience preferred, with a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with specific emphasis in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of AP Style, social media scheduling and analytic platforms, and newsletter programs required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Excellent writing, editing, presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Must be able to complete assignments accurately, within a specified deadline, and with attention to detail.
- Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries in a courteous and timely manner via email, telephone, or social media.
- Must provide exceptional customer service to members and partners at all times.
- Must be proactive and take initiative.
- Must be a team player and collaborative.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must retain a valid Driver’s License and meet the eligibility requirements to drive while conducting company business.
- Must have personal transportation for required travel as well as executing other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Must demonstrate and uphold a high level of professionalism in all work environments.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- External Communication – Promoting MLMA to target audiences. This may include, but is not limited to, email marketing, press releases, social media, quarterly newsletters, conference and meeting information and fundraising materials.
- Website content management (www.mlmalumber.com)
- Membership Management Software – Managing and maintaining membership database.
- Social Media content planning and management (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
- Coordinate with Executive Director to develop new print and digital materials as well as updating existing materials for all MLMA programs.
- Media and Industry Relations – create and nurture relationships with media outlets and professionals throughout the state and region. Write and distribute media releases to statewide outlets.
- Promotions – Coordinate promoting lumber manufacturing for events like National Forest Products Week and other special projects.
- Member Meetings – Assist Executive Director to coordinate MLMA’s Annual Meeting and Convention and Trade Show.
- ForestryWorks® Partnership – Work with Executive Director, Workforce Development Committee, and MS ForestryWorks® Advisory Council to develop career ambassador program. Ambassador program connects sawmill members with potential job candidates in their area and fosters connections among their education community leaders to build a pipeline of industry workforce participants.
- Work with Executive Director on collection and dissemination of survey data when needed.
- Information Services – Regularly distribute scholarship information, partner news, educational opportunities and pertinent resources to MLMA members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and MLMA Board of Directors.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary range - $45,000 - $55,000 per year.
- Benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance plus individual retirement account with 3% employer match.
